Reactivate a Former User
Only an Account Administrator can reactivate a deactivated user.
If a past user needs access again — commonly a college intern who's active during the summer and inactive during the school year — you can reactivate their account instead of creating a new one, preserving their historical time slips and activity.
Steps to Reactivate a User
- Select your name and choose Settings.
- Go to User Management > Users.
- Select the Edit button on any of your user count categories — Financial, Production, or Limited.
- In the Manage User Licenses window, choose Modify Existing User.
- Select the Inactive Users tab.
- Select the user you want to reactivate.
- Choose their activation level and assign an appropriate access group.
- Select Save Changes.
Reviewing and Submitting
After saving, you'll see the change reflected as an addition to your subscription — the reactivated user counts as a new active user at whichever level you assigned. Select Review Changes to see the cost impact and your new subscription rate; all amounts are prorated to your current license renewal period. Once you're satisfied, select Submit Changes to complete the reactivation.
Best Practice
Always reactivate a returning user's existing record through Modify Existing User rather than creating a brand-new user — this keeps their prior history and activity tied to the same record, avoiding duplicate accounts for the same person.
Summary
Only Account Administrators can reactivate users. Go to Settings > User Management > Users, select Edit on any user count, choose Modify Existing User, select the Inactive Users tab, choose the user, set their activation level and access group, and Save Changes. Review Changes shows the prorated cost impact before you Submit Changes to finalize.
