Roles and Rates - the backbone of hourly billing

Apply Updated Billing Rates to Existing Time Slips

You may need to apply updated billing rates to a set of time slips. Let us show you how.

You don't have to update your time slips one at a time? Watch this video.

If you update project billing rates after time has already been entered, those existing time slips will still use the old rates. When billed, they will not automatically pick up the new ones.

You can update them in bulk.

  • Open the project and confirm the correct billing rates are in place.

  • Go to Time and locate the time slips you want to update.

    • Use Jump from the project or create a time slip query to find them - see below.

  • Query the time slips.

    • Create a new query.

    • Decide the effective date for the new rates and set the date range (for example, starting on the effective date).

    • Select the project.

  • Review the results.

    • Review the dates on the time slips.

    • Only include time slips entered on or after that date.

    • Time slips that have already been billed or invoiced will not be affected.

  • Select the time slips to update.

    • Use Select All, or select individual entries.

  • Click Refresh Billing Rates from the actions menu.

    • Each time slip will be updated using the billing rates from its project.

    • Rates come from the project, not the master rate table.

  • Confirm the updated rates, then proceed with billing.
