Each column of the spreadsheet is pre-mapped to data fields within the BaseBuilders system. Please do not delete or add any columns. The custom columns are optional, while the first five columns are mandatory for each project. Copy your data from whatever system(s) you are currently using and paste it into this spreadsheet. Keep the header row with field labels that will be used when importing.
If you have data exported from another system that is not separated into columns, but instead is merged together in a single column, reach out to us - we have a tool to help you separate things.
If you want to use the custom columns to categorize and/or segment your projects, please rename the column headers in this template. Column 1 might become Building Type, while Column 3 might become Jurisdiction.
Number: Project numbers can be alphanumeric; there is no limitation on the characters you choose to use. We recommend that you keep your numbers simple and limit them to about eight characters. However, you are free to do as you choose.
Project Name: This is a simple text string you use to identify your projects.
Client: The Client name needs to be an EXACT match with the Companies in your new Address Book for the Projects to be linked with the company. "BaseBuilders LLC" and "BaseBuilders, LLC" are not going to match up because of the comma in one and not in the other. We need these to match so we can properly link your client from the Company table to the Project.
Date: This is the date you were awarded the contract.
Status: You will get the chance to create custom statuses. But for this import, let's stick to the three examples we have shown: Active, Hold, and Done.
Custom 1 through 6: Our system allows you to set up several types of custom fields. For the purpose of importing, we will create new Menu Pick Fields for the columns you rename and populate with values.
